IR (Infrared) sensor is an electronic device that is used to detect infrared radiation emitted from objects in its field of view. Infrared radiation is a type of electromagnetic radiation with wavelengths longer than visible light, making it invisible to the human eye. IR sensors are widely used in various applications, from motion detection to remote controls and proximity sensing.

 These sensors consist of an IR LED (emitter) and a photodiode or phototransistor (receiver). The IR LED emits infrared light, which is reflected by an object and detected by the receiver. Active IR sensors are typically used for proximity detection, object counting, and obstacle detection.
